Biography |

Born in Sofia (Bulgaria) and of Armenian descent, Edmon Levon has established himself as one of the most promising young conductors on the Spanish scene thanks to his efficient and engaging rehearsal style and his audacious and energetic interpretations.
Among his most recent achievements at the national level are his return engagements with the Spanish Radio Television Symphony Orchestra RTVE, Granada City Orchestra (with which he has also performed as a violin soloist on two occasions), Extremadura Symphony Orchestra, Murcia Symphony Orchestra and the Córdoba Symphony Orchestra, in addition to conducting the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (a concert in which he also performed as a soloist-conductor), Málaga Philharmonic, Generalitat Valenciana Youth Orchestra, Spanish National Youth Orchestra (as assistant conductor to Pablo González), Barenboim-Said Foundation Orchestra (as assistant to Pablo Heras-Casado) and the Extremadura Youth Orchestra (as assistant to Andrés Salado). Internationally, he has conducted orchestras such as the Jena Philharmonic in a season concert, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Tonhalle-Orchestra Züich, Gstaad Menuhin Festival Orchestra, Netherlands Philharmonic, the Hague Resident Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic (as assistant conductor to Juanjo Mena), Manchester Camerata, Sinfonietta Cracovia, Ruse Philharmonic (Bulgaria) and the Moscow Philharmonic, among others. His talent has also been recognized in several international conducting competitions, winning the third prize at the 1st Llíria International Competition, reaching the final (top 5 out of 347) in the 9th “Sir Georg Solti” Competition with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and the semifinals (top 8 out of 194) in the 2nd Hong Kong International Conducting Competition. Edmon studied orchestral conducting at the conservatories in Manchester (with Clark Rundell), Amsterdam (with Kenneth Montgomery and Ed Spanjaard), and The Hague (with Jac van Steen), and has furthered his training through masterclasses with renowned conductors such as Daniele Gatti, Sir Mark Elder, Juanjo Mena, David Zinman, Manfred Honeck, and Ivor Bolton. Currently, he serves as chief conductor of the Ceuta International Symphony Orchestra and artistic director of the Granada Youth Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his passion for music, he is also a private pilot and loves adventure sports such as canyoning, rock climbing, and caving — all experiences that are clearly reflected in his music through his bold, vibrant and moving interpretations. |
