Biography

Born in Sofia (Bulgaria), Edmon Levon is a conductor from Granada, currently the principal conductor of the Ceuta International Symphony Orchestra and the Granada Youth Symphony Orchestra and a violinist in the Granada City Orchestra.
After having studied in Weimar, Manchester, Amsterdam and the Hague, he is one of the few emerging Spanish conductors with international standing. He has worked as a guest conductor with Jenaer Philharmonie (review), Sinfonietta Cracovia (press release), Manchester Camerata and Monferrato Classic Orchestra, and in Spain with the Spanish Radio Symphony Orchestra RTVE (review), Granada City Orchestra, Málaga Philharmonic (review), Extremadura Symphony Orchestra (review), Murcia Symphony Orchestra and Córdoba Symphony Orchestra. In the 24/25 season he will have the pleasure of making his debut with the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa and returning for the second time as guest conductor to the Orquesta Sinfónica de RTVE and for the third time to the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada and the Orquesta de Córdoba. He has also conducted orchestras such as the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Netherlands Philharmonic, Gstaad Menuhin Festival Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Argovia Philharmonic and Moscow Philharmonic in masterclasses with conductors such as David Zinman, Manfred Honeck, Juanjo Mena, Sir Mark Elder, Ivor Bolton and Daniele Gatti, among others. Winner of the Third Prize in the International Conducting Competition "Llíria City of Music" in 2021, he has also been a semi-finalist in the II Hong Kong International Conducting Competition and in the IX International Conducting Competition "Sir Georg Solti" with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (press release). He has extensive experience as an assistant conductor, having conducted on several occasions the BBC Philharmonic as assistant to Juanjo Mena and Jac van Steen, the Hague Philharmonic and JONDE as assistant to Pablo González, the Netherlands Youth Orchestra as assistant to Georg Fritzsch and Antony Hermus, the Barenboim-Said Foundation Orchestra as assistant to Pablo Heras-Casado and the Extremadura Youth Orchestra as assistant to Andrés Salado. |
